Are Your Goals Big Enough?
We're in our "think bigger" era.
Hey honeys and hustlers,
Anthony here. 👋🏻 We’ve got a real treat of an episode this week. Angela’s guest was Ryan O’Donnell, the founder of EmployUS (acquired by Hireology) and they talked about setting ambitious goals that make a real difference.
Ryan co-founded EmployUS after working as a recruiter and understanding the power of referrals in the job market. But I couldn’t read his background without focusing on his Guinness World Record from when he was in high school. The record he set? Collecting over 500,000 pounds of food in a food drive… In 18 hours. Yeah, pretty badass.
Hear Ryan and Angela talk about it below.
You can also check it out on Apple Podcasts.
In this conversation, it was clear Ryan had 2 focuses: impact & ambition.
Ryan focuses on the importance of aiming high and planning for success. By setting your ambitions even higher than they need to be, you build in room for setbacks to happen without derailing everything.
With our focus in this publication being on creator impact, this was a good reminder for any of us in the goal-setting stage. Aim high and aim to make a difference.
Take a look at your current business goals… What would you do differently if you made them even bigger?
It’s easy to doubt ourselves and set the bar too low. In order to reach our true potential as creators and entrepreneurs, we have to believe in ourselves and set our sights on bigger and bigger ideas.
Thanks to Ryan for coming on the show! Your story is an inspirational one.

James Clear releases a habits app
From the author of the #1 New York Times best-selling book Atomic Habits and the world-renowned authority on habit building, Atoms is a habits app by James Clear. Ironically, I was listening to Nathan Barry and Rachel Rodgers brainstorm how James Clear could build a billion-dollar business on a road trip to Asheville earlier this month and this is one of the ideas they suggested. It sounds like it’s been something that’s quietly been in the works for years and is now ready for the public. It’s currently only available on Apple devices, and you can read more about it below.
Alicia Keys Super Bowl Recap
Quiet as it’s kept, I believe Alicia Keys is one of the best marketers in the music business. I remember her using a lot of new media in her last album rollout: Twitter Spaces, teaser videos, an incredible interview with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden, the works. Now, she’s created a recap video detailing her journey to appearing during Usher’s halftime performance. (Yes, I know her voice cracked for a second. Let’s focus people!) It’s 20 minutes of her giving you a peak behind the curtain of the precious moments leading up to the show. These 20 minutes show you exactly why she’s been relevant for the last 20 years.

In this section, I highlight people in the community who have been kind enough to leave a review for the newsletter or podcast.
🚀 From a 36-hour Amtrak journey New Orleans to Tucson, condensed into 36 minutes to a brutalizing ayahuasca retreat hosted by a radically honest shamanic apprentice in Peru, Lowlines is one woman’s journey that she invites us all to vicariously participate in. Lowlines is a 100% independent, 100% female production that follows food entrepreneur Petra Barran as she travels solo through the Americas, meeting people with profound connections to the places they’re from.
