Don't Be Afraid to Be Seen Trying
Let your rest ethic match your work ethic.
Hey honeys and hustlers,
North Carolina folks – are you 1. anxious to see the new film that you helped us make, 2. free in two weeks? I’ve got just the thing: RSVP to our film screening of Trail Therapy happening at American Underground on the evening of Thursday, August 29th! Feel free to bring a plus one, just let us know they’re coming so that we have enough food and drinks for everyone.
If you’re unable to join us in person, don’t worry, we’re working on a virtual film screening premiere so stay tuned! It will likely be in early September.
As I finished my last meeting before leaving town, I caught myself thinking about all the things I needed to do when I returned. Sometimes I have to remind myself to slow down and allow myself to rest. My friend Jordan and I recently started a creative collective called Grain & Gold, and we’ve been trying to get production started on a few new projects. And it hit me: The art of trying is an incredibly beautiful thing. We’ve had doubts, we’ve had fears, we’ve had things fall through. And yet, we’re still going for it anyway. Many don’t even get to the point of starting. Yet here we are, with the courage to pursue a bold vision together. People don’t always see the swings we take, they only notice the ones that get knocked out of the park.
If you’ve started something, and it’s not going as smoothly as you would like, this is your reminder to get some rest and return to it with fresh eyes. You got this.
Empowered Podcast Conference [Recap]
I went to the Artists Thrive Summit in Winston Salem, NC on Tuesday and I honestly wish I could’ve changed my flight to attend every day of the event. There was so much value packed into that one day that my brain is still buzzing. If you’re new here, you probably don’t remember me promising a recap video of my time at the Empowered Podcast Conference. Now that I’m feeling better I’m making good on my word. See how I didn’t abandon my promise? Very mindful. Very demure. I put together a video where I spoke with some awesome podcasters (a few you may recognize) about the state of the podcast industry, why they decided to attend this podcast event, and what they’re excited about. Check it out below!
Short and sweet this week.
Please hustle responsibly,
🤙🏾✨
