Increase eCommerce Brand Loyalty Through a Personalized Experience

Luke Davis, Founder of Lie + Loft

Luke Davis is the founder of Lie + Loft, a creative organization based in Raleigh that creates artwork and other golf-related items to accessorize home interiors. I talked with Luke to discuss his transition from being a student and athlete to a business owner and how his love of golf has shaped his creative career.

Connecting golf to home. Golf is a popular sport that has been around for centuries, and its popularity continues to grow. For those who are passionate about golf, investing in modern golf artwork can be a great way to show off your love for the game. Not only is modern golf artwork aesthetically pleasing, but it can also be a great conversation starter.

Starting a business is a daunting task, and it can be difficult to push through the self-doubt and remain motivated. This is especially true when it comes to running a business related to golf. Luke was inspired by course maps and scorecards and wanted to create a modern, minimal take on golf artwork. He taught himself graphic design and started creating pieces that connected the course to the home.

He found that the initial challenges of running a business related to golf were difficult to juggle. He had to find a balance between enjoying the process of creating something from scratch and the reality of the money side of things. He had to push through the self-doubt and believe in himself and his idea in order to succeed. Luke emphasized that the challenge of running a business will always be there, but it’s important to enjoy the process.

Luke has been running his e-commerce brand for eight years and has done so without a co-founder. He’s had to make all the decisions alone and carry the weight of those decisions. One way he’s tackled that challenge is by creating original work. This includes having a podcast and blog for Lie + Loft, which has enabled him to spread the joy of creating, golf, and interior design with other people. It has also been a great way to keep him energized and have time for himself.

Finally, he expresses that businesses should focus on creating a great customer experience. This can be done by providing excellent customer service, creating personalized messages, and following up with customers after they have made a purchase. By providing customers with a positive experience, businesses can build relationships and ensure that customers will return in the future.

Experience the ultimate throwback. One way to create a unique customer experience is to offer a unique product or service. Luke started a business with his friend called Hickory Sticks, a business that collects and refurbishes antique wooden shafted golf clubs from before 1935. By offering a unique product, Hickory Sticks is able to create a unique customer experience that is unlike anything else.

Hickory Sticks has taken its unique customer experience one step further by creating a brand book. The brand book outlines the mission of the business, the aesthetic, and the voice of the brand. This helps them to stay true to their mission and create a consistent customer experience.

Another way that Hickory Sticks has created a unique customer experience is by offering Hickory experiences. These experiences are designed to be fun and relaxing, including playing golf with antique golf clubs. By playing with antique golf clubs, customers can experience the ultimate throwback.

The feeling of hitting the sweet spot of an antique golf club is ten times better than hitting the sweet spot of a modern golf club.
