The Future of Work

Where you don't have to buy commercial real estate.

Hey honeys and hustlers,

A rough cut of my newest documentary film project premieres tomorrow! I’ll be a part of a film screening at the Charlotte Earth Day Festival from 6-8PM at the Charlotte Museum of History. I’d love to see you there if you’re in the area! You can RSVP to grab your free tickets here.

Have you ever worked in a coworking space? Did you stick around, attend an event, or meet up with someone there? Coworking spaces bring together like-minded individuals who are looking to connect, collaborate, and grow their businesses. The community aspect of coworking spaces allows for organic networking opportunities that can lead to valuable connections and potential clients. DeShawn Brown, the creator of Coworks, shares his ever-optimistic view of coworking spaces – that coworking spaces provide much more than just a physical workspace.

You can watch or listen to the new episode below.

You can also check it out on Apple Podcasts.

To enhance the networking experience in coworking spaces, he and his app design team at Lithios developed the Coworks app. The app features an events feed that highlights upcoming activities, making it easy for members to find and participate in networking events. Additionally, the app includes a directory showcasing member profiles and contact information, simplifying the process of connecting and building relationships.

The future of coworking is diverse, with various models emerging to cater to different needs and preferences (like creators and makers). The commercial real estate industry is evolving to provide a variety of options for individuals and businesses at all levels seeking flexible and collaborative work environments. I think spaces like this are perfect for solo creators and entrepreneurs who are looking for a space away from home to have a mailbox, meet clients, and just have a space outside of their home to work – all for much less than the cost of leasing a commercial space or buying a building on their own.

What’s a coworking space in your area you’ve been to and highly recommend? People traveling to different cities might want to check them out (especially me)! Leave a comment and let us know.

"I immediately kind of knew, and this is pre-COVID, so people at the time thought I was kind of crazy, but I knew that this was going to be sort of the future of work and that it was also blending in these other kind of social things.” - DeShawn Brown

It’s an honor to share DeShawn’s perspective with you — may it help you along your creative and entrepreneurship journey.

Stephen Bartlett launches media company

Stephen Bartlett is the host of the Diary of a CEO video podcast. His show has an estimated 40 million downloads per month and has amassed 400 million views on YouTube 🤯. He used his extensive expertise in social media marketing and paid ads to grow his show, and is now translating that success for other podcasters with his new company. Read more about it in their official press release.

ShxtsnGigs sell out O2 Arena

The O2 Arena in London has a capacity of over 20,000 and 2 podcasters just sold it out. 🤯 When the war on men with mics starts, don’t touch these two. James and Fuhad have incredible chemistry and this is a huge accomplishment for a live podcast event. It looks like Black British podcasters have a thing or two to teach Americans. 🤔

Keith Lee lands brand deal with Pizza Hut

Keith Lee is a former mixed martial artist turned food reviewer on TikTok. I don’t really use TikTok, so I came across the videos of his food tours when they quickly got reshared and went viral on Twitter. In his food tours, he goes from city to city trying and reviewing different restaurants that are recommended to him by his audience. He’s known to leave large tips and send bucketloads of people to their doors if the food and service is spectacular. On the other hand, businesses have complained if they didn’t receive good reviews as they felt it negatively affected their business due to a one-time occurrence. Sound familiar? At any rate, his positive impact has definitely outweighed the bad and he’s landed a deal with Pizza Hut to host pizza parties for the high schools he and his wife attended while donating $50,000 to each. In a time when public schools are struggling, this is incredible. I don’t know what he’s getting out of the deal, and it doesn’t sound like he cares. A man of the people.

Quote of the Week

“Does it scale? Fuck scale, do the work.” -

The actions that will truly make an impact don’t scale. 1:1 conversations, discovery calls, and attending events to name a few. Don’t worry if things “scale,” focus on the consistency of doing the work.

I hope y’all enjoy some spring weather this weekend and celebrate Earth Day with some time in the sun!
